this month’s micro tweaks is late but they don’t say better late than never for nothing right?! say yes because after last month, any small inconveience is likely to lead to a full mental breakdown okay?

but in all honesty as I looked back at my micro tweaks for march, even through the hellhole that march was in my neck of the woods, I did make the micro tweaks I set out to make.

no social media for the first hour of waking up. I went through my clothes, and all three kids’ clothes and donated to large bags to a local domestic violence shelter and despite lots of unknowns coming at me in march, I really felt like I did my best to keep routines as normal as possible through it all. so micro tweaks were a total win for me when I look back!

I can’t tell you how happy it made me to see April 1st hit the calendar. and at first my high acheiver natural state wanted to be super intense about exercise, nutrition, home habits, etc. and through the first week of this month I felt the universe ask me to just fucking chill. like geez. (lol at myself)

set aside 20-30 minutes. make yourself something you actually enjoy drinking. find a quiet corner. get cozy. this is not a to-do list and it is not a performance review. this is you, tending to your life because you love it.

grab a journal if that’s your thing. or open your Notes app. whatever works for you.

move through each section at your own pace. write the first thing that comes. don’t edit yourself. at the end, you’ll choose one refinement — just one — to carry into this month.

let’s start with what’s going to happen this month. do you have trips, kid sports, doctor appointments, etc? I like to start with a good idea of what my true capacity for the month.

do you need scale back?

is not a lot happening and you need something fun on the calendar?

will it be a big spend month with a trip planned?

just take a moment to jot down anything that comes to mind for this month before you start getting into more detail. you can only feel behind if you’re not looking ahead every once in awhile.

let’s check in on how you feel about currently moving through your days. and remember you’re just noticing here, you’re not judging yourself or worried about what you should be doing, you’re just taking stock of what actually happening.

pay attention to the small structures that hold your days together. not the big systems — the quiet, daily things that either work for you or quietly work against you.
