I wanted to surprise my Mum with a trip for her 70th birthday. Since she had to fly from New Zealand, I wanted to keep it close to home. I discovered that Vanuatu was just a two-and-a-half-hour flight from Brisbane. In my early twenties, I’d had a fun time on Rarotonga with Harry and a girlfriend, so I booked a trip for my Mum, Patience, Dorothy and me. It exceeded my expectations and we had the best time. The people there are incredibly warm, friendly, helpful and full of hope.
Vanuatu is a tropical island in the Pacific. The dry season, which is the same as Australia’s winter (June, July and August), is the best time to visit. However, they haven’t fully recovered from the effects of Covid and a recent cyclone. If you’re considering a holiday, they’d love to welcome you. I’ll share our itinerary, including where we went, where we stayed, and my thoughts on the accommodation. I’ll also give you travel tips and how to get around.
