Carolyn Cowan · Shame... The Path Out of Hell

Recovering from shame isn’t about seekingvperfection. It is also far from pretending that the past didn’t happen. It is a lot about deserving. Deserving safety. Deserving love. Deserving a kinder conversation with yourself and with the universe.

When you live with shame, it shapes how you speak to yourself. You may have become aware of the constant inner criticism, the sense of unworthiness, the fear that you don’t deserve good things to happen. Recovery begins when you gently interrupt that loop.

In this video, I explore what it means to begin to deserve. I talk about how shame loops through fear, disorder, and self-judgment and why recovery is counterintuitive and must start softly.

We touch on how to begin to shift your inner dialogue and rebuild trust in life and in the world around you. It is not an overnight fix. Not ever. I share a practice that can make a good start toward believing, holding, that you deserve.

I’d love your comments and reflections on these videos, and to hear what you would like more of from me. Get in touch, leave a comment, let me know you’re here!
