Throughout the week, I share short reflections on Substack called “Notes”

They’re not full articles. They are simple moments, questions, or observations that catch my attention, float into my mind and I feel they are worth sharing.

This weekly collection brings a few of those thoughts together in one place, along with the thread I noticed running through them.

Here are a few from this past week.

Perhaps we don’t lose ourselves. Perhaps…

You don’t find the answers by sitting down and asking…

Change your thoughts. Change…

Real change begins the moment I notice …

As I sat down and re-read this week’s Notes together, I realised they were all pointing towards the same recognition.

Perhaps we don’t suddenly lose ourselves.

Perhaps we gradually stop noticing ourselves.

We become accustomed to the way we think, the choices we make and the roles we have learned to play.

Much of it happens silently, over a period of time.

We continue responding from old beliefs, old expectations and old versions of ourselves because it is easy. We stop even questioning…

Do this old ideas, thoughts, believes belong to me now? We begin to see that the past may have shaped us, but it does not have to keep choosing for us.

We notice that our thoughts are not simply passing through our minds. They are influencing what we believe is possible.

And slowly, a different future becomes visible, as it did for me.

Not because we sat down and forced ourselves to find all the answers, quite the opposite. But because we paid attention to what had already begun asking to be seen.

Perhaps real change does not begin with becoming someone new. Maybe, just maybe it begins when we stop overlooking who we are now.

Until next Sunday,

Carolyn
