I hope all of you are doing well.
I have been getting accustomed to my new Mac Studio and it’s been quite the learning curve so far. There are some features that I really like, such as being able to use my computer as a phone when I am at my desk, and generally how all my devices work seamlessly together. I am not used to the file storage structure though and I think I have to watch some YouTube tutorials. Before this, I’ve only ever used Windows, so it’s a big adjustment for me.
I’ve discovered the app Freeform and I’ve started using it like a mind map and visual scrapbook kind of tool. It is nice for planning out projects where you want to have text, images, and hand drawn elements on an infinite canvas. I like it that I can use it on my phone, iPad and computer. For example, I’m planning a trip and I have used it to organize everything into multiple lists: general packing, to-do’s, my shopping list, and which art supplies I’m going to bring.
A few years ago, I undertook a major project to organize all of my reference folders by category so I could find them easier. Unfortunately, things have gotten out of hand since then and at this moment I have reference photos spread out over Google Drive, iCloud, and an external hard drive. Since I am switching over to all Apple ecosystem, I’m thinking of making collections on Apple Photos instead of just in folders on iCloud. As I take new pictures, they will already be in Photos so that will cut down on shuffling them around I think. I still have to experiment a bit and research some more to find out if this is feasible.
Does anyone have a good system for organizing large quantities of photos? I could use some ideas.
A study of some ivy I did on my iPad, probably fiddling way too much layering all the shades of green.
On another note, it’s finally starting to feel like spring here in Massachusetts. Just the very beginning of spring though. Most of the snow piles have melted and the ice is disappearing from my pond. It is still quite cold though, and super windy. I see pictures that people in other locations post of the bulbs coming up and I’m thinking it won’t look like that here for another two months.
