Season 8: Let’s Get Started!

We’re back!!!! Season 8 of Ground Control Parenting with Carol Sutton Lewis starts next Wednesday, May 13th — and I cannot wait to tell you what we have in store!

We’re opening the season with a return visit from the extraordinary Misty Copeland. When Misty first joined us on the podcast, her son Jackson was just ten months old. He’s now four, and she’s stepping into a brand new chapter — one shaped by motherhood, reinvention, and reflection. And we talk about all of it. It’s a great conversation, and the perfect way to open the season.

A Great Lineup for Season 8

This season you’ll hear from an incredible group of women who are deeply focused on the job and the joys of parenting. Dawn Flythe Moore, First Lady of Maryland, joins us to talk about raising children in the political spotlight, and the lessons she learned from her parents that are helping her keep her kids grounded.

Dr. Ann-Louise Lockhart returns for a first-of-its-kind GCP conversation about divorce — how parents can move through it thoughtfully and in the best way possible for their kids. And throughout the season, we’ll be joined by experts and thought leaders tackling the questions parents are asking right now.

A Special Focus: Our Kids’ Digital Lives

This season I’m sitting down with researchers and experts who are studying how technology is shaping childhood, how children learn in digital environments, and how we as parents can guide them through it all. Because a core part of the GCP mission is to help us make sense of the rapidly changing world our children are growing up in, and right now no part of that world is changing faster than the digital one.

Parents have questions: How much screen time is too much? What are these algorithms shaping what our kids see and even what they think about? And now that AI is showing up in classrooms, homework, and creative work, how do we help our children understand it and use it well?

And we’re focusing on the answers in our Kids’ Digital Lives series.

New This Season: On the Ground and Book Talk

This Season we’re switching things up a bit and introducing new ways to have these conversations. You’ll discover our new roundtable series, On the Ground, where I’m joined by two amazing and thoughtful moms for honest conversations about what really matters in parenting today, and how we’re handling it. And we’ve launching Book Talk minisodes– short, lively chats with authors about the parenting insights behind their books.
