5 things that will make today better (trust me)

Favourite inspo from the Vivienne Westwood x Kawakubo exhibition

Let’s go…

  1. Eat a really fucking good sandwich with premium shit in like chicken, avocado, brie, micro greens. Good butter. And make it big, so big you split a lip eating it and mayo ends up smeared on your cheeks.

  2. Lie down with your legs up the wall. I don’t know why this feels so good but who cares.

  3. Have a Big Shower. A Small Shower is your basic scrub of the stinky bits, Medium Shower you exfoliate or shave under your arm pits, Big Shower is every thing. Hair wash, treatments, full body hair removal, using that expensive body scrub. The trick is to have it early at like 5pm. Pre-dinner. That way you don’t cut into your couch rotting time.

  4. Play a best of karaoke songs mix, most streaming platforms have them. It’s a stellar way to randomise bops so you get delighted by favourite songs, like listening to the radio.

  5. Read outside. At night if you’re game.

  6. Oh also my newsletter was mentioned (actually big chunks of it was read out!) on Mamamia Outloud last week, which is lovely. Thanks babes. Would have loved a link to my newsletter in the episode description though.

Reading

These vastly different reviews of Theo of Golden.

I’m cheating this week and sharing my beef with Theo of Golden. It’s my Roman Empire because it’s so average (our entire book group gave it 2 stars out of 5) and we’re trying to figure out why it’s on so many best seller lists and I think I’ve figured it out.

Jesus.

Literally. It’s Christian coded and many of the 5-star reviews speak of finding heaven, absolution, forgiveness, etc. It’s not for the agnostic atheists among us. There’s a level of divinity religious folks are getting from this book that just isn’t landing with your average God-less Joe.

A warning if you’re considering reading this book based on reviews because it’s one of the most confusing highly rated best sellers I’ve ever read. Confusing as to why it’s a best seller I mean.

Watching

Not much at all TBH. Just Call The Midwife and The Pitt. If you’re a Pitt-head can I tell you something very cool? Taylor Dreardon who plays Melissa King is BRYAN CRANSTON’S DAUGHTER. I’m usually very connected to nepo-babies but she slipped right under my radar. She’s also fab, I wouldn’t say she looks or even presents much like her dad but I reckon she inherited that It Factor.

Listening

The Beauty and the Beast Soundtrack. The Disney original one of course. The girls have become obsessed with it recently and I’m delighted. I truly feel it’s the very best of the original scores, every single song is a banger, especially Gaston. Is there a better line in any song than ‘I use antlers in all of my decorating’? No. There’s not.

Wearing

This was worn for giving plasma last week - Alpha 60 Cooper pants (my second pair in this style), Witchery top, Radical Yes shoes, Cleopatra’s Bling necklace.

I’ve always had such a thing for weird shoes. Love them. Also I painted my nails red last week because of Caroline Bessette Kennedy and felt unexpectedly chic all week. Recommend.

Obsessed with finding apples small enough to fit in the girls’ lunchboxes without cutting them up.

Doing

I was in Melbourne last week for work and I snuck in some time to check out the Vivienne Westwood x Kawakubo exhibition and it was magnificent.

We had visitors over the long weekend a few of which were the Romances. Hair and Mr & Mrs to be precise. Chrissy and I have been mates for well over 15 years now and we always laugh because we met on Twitter. Sounds so dodgy, I’m stoked she didn’t turn out to be a serial killer.

We had some other mates pop up from Melbourne which was also lovely. We had pulled pork and went canoeing. Excellent.

How is your week going?

Carly
