Prepared Opportunities

Devotion for Thursday, July 23, 2026

These devotions were prepared before I began my sabbatical. I would appreciate your prayers for times of refreshing in the presence of the Lord.

Acts 8:29–30
“Then the Spirit said to Philip, ‘Go up and join this chariot.’ Philip ran up and heard him reading Isaiah the prophet…”

God is already preparing opportunities before we ever arrive. Philip did not have to manufacture a divine appointment or persuade someone to become interested in God. The Ethiopian had already traveled to worship, had already obtained a copy of Isaiah, and was already searching for understanding. Philip simply stepped into a work that God had been preparing all along.

Confidence grows when we remember that God is always at work ahead of us. We can become anxious about saying the right thing or finding the perfect opportunity, but our responsibility is not to create open doors. Our responsibility is to recognize the ones God has already opened and faithfully walk through them.

Today’s challenge is to ask God to help you notice someone He is already drawing to Himself. Pray for open eyes, then be available to encourage, serve, or simply begin a conversation if the opportunity arises.

Reflection:
Who has God already placed in your path that may be more spiritually open than you realize? Ask Him for the courage to take one simple step toward that person today.

Prayer:
Father, thank You for preparing good works for Your people to walk in. Give me eyes to recognize the opportunities You have already arranged and the courage to step into them with faith, trusting that You are already at work. Amen.
