God Loves to Work Through People

Devotion for Friday, July 31

Thank you for your continued prayers during my sabbatical. This devotion was written before I left, and I would appreciate your prayers for times of refreshing in the presence of the Lord.

Acts 9:17

“So Ananias departed and entered the house, and after laying his hands on him said, ‘Brother Saul, the Lord Jesus, who appeared to you on the road by which you were coming, has sent me so that you may regain your sight and be filled with the Holy Spirit.’”

God delights in involving His people in the work He is doing. Saul’s encounter with Jesus changed his life forever, but the story did not end on the Damascus road. The Lord sent Ananias to pray for him, restore his sight, and welcome him into the family of God. Jesus could have done every part of that miracle Himself, yet He chose to let another believer share in the joy of seeing a life transformed.

God is still writing stories like that today. Every encouraging conversation, every faithful prayer, every act of generosity, and every step of obedience becomes an opportunity for His grace to reach someone else. You may never know how deeply your kindness strengthens another person or how your faithfulness becomes the answer to a prayer they have been praying. Nothing offered to God in obedience is ever wasted.

Your life carries more influence than you realize. Holy Spirit has placed you where you are for a reason, surrounded you with people only you can reach, and entrusted you with gifts that can build someone else’s faith. You do not have to be famous, exceptionally gifted, or perfectly prepared. You simply need to remain available. God has always enjoyed working through ordinary people who trust Him.

Reflection:
Ask God to show you one person who could use encouragement today. Reach out with a prayer, a kind word, or an invitation to connect. Trust that God can use your simple act of obedience to make an eternal difference.

Prayer:

Lord, thank You for inviting me to participate in what You are doing in the lives of others. Help me recognize the opportunities You place before me today. Just as You used Ananias to strengthen Saul, use my words, my prayers, and my actions to reflect Your love and bring hope to someone who needs You. Amen.
