Hi everyone, I am writing from Kurt’s bedside in our apartment here in Cuenca, Ecuador. Jett (kitty) and I are watching over him. He has had a terrible bout of vertigo that has been unrelenting, resulting in his dehydration.
Last night, I messaged his doctor, and we came up with a plan to help him at home. A wonderful nurse came out with an IV for him, and then the pharmacy delivered electrolytes, and is in consultation with our doctor about more medicine for him. Cuenca is ranked 11th in the world for private healthcare. I am beginning to see why it’s rated so highly.
It’s interesting to contrast this with experiences in the US, where we would have had to get him into a car and take him to the Emergency Department (ED) for this kind of assistance. Also, it probably costs one-tenth as much as an ED visit there. Not to mention, given his dizziness, it’s safer not to transport him unless absolutely necessary.
I am keeping my article short this week because I am short on sleep and need to attend to Kurt’s needs. Dehydration is nothing to take lightly, as it can upset electrolytes and lead to serious health crises.
Please pray for Kurt and send him good vibrations for healing. We know this is just a rough patch, and we will rest easier soon. Love and light to you all.
