Andrew Lockley · Carbon Removal Updates

For almost four years, Carbon Removal Updates has been published every Monday, consistently and without interruption.

Behind those four years are thousands of hours of reading, researching, checking sources, writing, editing, and keeping track of a rapidly changing carbon removal landscape. And, like everyone else, we’ve had plenty happening in our lives along the way, busy periods, difficult moments, unexpected challenges and everything in between. Yet we’ve continued to show up every Monday.

That consistency matters to us. And, judging from the messages we receive each week, it matters to many of you too. We regularly hear from readers who tell us that the newsletter helps them keep up with developments they might otherwise miss, discover new research, find opportunities, understand an increasingly complex field, or simply make sense of what is happening across carbon removal. Those responses mean a great deal to us, and they are one of the biggest reasons we have kept going.

But, at this point, it is becoming difficult to keep this service running without financial support from our readers.

There are costs involved in maintaining the newsletter, researching and verifying hundreds of developments, publishing consistently, and continuing to expand what we can offer. Paid subscriptions are one of the ways we can make that work sustainable.

At the same time, we don't want to put our work behind a paywall.

We believe that information about CDR should be as widely available as possible. Researchers, students, corporates, policymakers, journalists, practitioners, people entering the field, and anyone interested in climate solutions should be able to access it regardless of whether they can afford a subscription.

If Carbon Removal Updates has been useful to you, please consider supporting it with a paid subscription.

You don’t need to pay to continue receiving the newsletter, and we completely understand that not everyone can afford to. Reading, sharing, recommending, and sending us feedback are all valuable forms of support.

Share Carbon Removal Updates

But if a few hundred readers decide to support it, it would make a real difference. It would help us continue this service, remain independent, and give us the capacity to do more research, more coverage, and more resources for the CDR community.

As an independent project, reader support is especially important at a time when philanthropic funding is increasingly difficult to secure for small initiatives. It allows us to keep doing this work on our own terms and maintain the consistency you’ve come to expect.

After almost four years and hundreds of Monday editions, we don’t take it for granted that you’re still here. Thank you for reading, sharing, recommending, and supporting Carbon Removal Updates. Whether you’re a free or paid subscriber, you are part of the reason we’ve made it this far.

And if you can support us financially, every paid subscription helps us keep showing up every Monday.
