This is a hand pieced and hand quilted star quilt out of New Jersey. Each block boasts a single hand pieced star with the two top and bottom corner stars on the left side set into more of a cross shaped block setting. The blocks are hand set into the wide red calico sashing. The binding is a machine applied in indigo blue and the backing off-white cotton. What makes this quilt unique is the execution of the corner blocks on the upper and lower righthand side. In these blocks the stars read as crosses, an effect achieved by replacing the corner patches with the same dark red as the sashing.
