Why I'm not arguing for the SBC to accept me already

Yesterday morning, I sat down to pen a post here on Substack about the decision of the SBC (Southern Baptist Convention) to once again put forth a vote against women as pastors or preachers in their denomination.

The article landed instead at Baptist News Global, along with this eventual explainer about why I’m not arguing for the SBC to accept me already:

I didn’t need them to affirm, appoint or endorse me as a woman in church leadership. This trifecta of words was used as a bloodied sword within the Southern Baptist Convention this week when 75% of the voting body elected to further prohibit women from serving as church leaders and preachers. This, of course, happened against upward of 54% of SBC members who identify as women.

Now, supposing I had landed in the SBC, and had still, even then, felt a call toward preaching and pastoring, perhaps my response would have been different. But that is not what happened.
