My Position on Immigration and Environnemental Refugees

There are a group of individuals that have decided that I am anti immigrant and anti refugee. I would like to set the record straight. It is impossible for a biocentrist to be anti-immigrant and anti-refugee,

As a biocentrist, my view of the world does not contain borders.

I have never been anti-immigration; it is counter to my views on Bioncentrism.

Where there has been confusion is that I was a supporter of Cesar Chavez and the United Farm workers back in the Sixties and early Seventies. Cesar’s position was that illegal immigration was serving the interests of corporate agri-business, supplying a steady stream of cheap labor to keep farm workers in poverty. This was also benefiting the hotel, restaurant and tourist industries with a steady stream of illegal workers. This meant that maids, housekeepers and restaurant workers would not be given raises, and if they complain they could be easily replaced.

In 2006 as a national director of the Sierra Club of the United States, I sponsored a Board motion to condemn what is a modern form of slavery in California farmlands. I urged the Sierra Club to promote a demand for decent wages and benefits for all California farm workers.

I did support the Sierra Club’s pre-1997 position of the need for population stabilization and promoted discussion on how to achieve that. My position was not to ban immigration but that there was a need for immigration reform to put an end to illegal immigration and the exploitation of illegal immigration to benefit corporate agri-business.

At the time some critics framed my position incorrectly as anti-immigration which it was not. In fact, at the time I was not a U.S. citizen. I was in fact a Green Card holder with an application to immigrate to the United States. I became a U.S. citizen in 2008.

I do hold the position that solutions must be found to address human suffering caused by forced migration, especially due to climate change pressures which will continue to force migrants northward and southward from the equator.

I am opposed to the criminalization of migrants. I support efforts by human rights groups to rescue and to give aid to migrants especially towards the rescue of migrants at sea.

I have never written an article or posted on any social media that I am opposed to immigration or that I discriminate against immigration.

It has always been my position that every human being should have the freedom to travel freely anywhere on the planet they so choose to do so.

There is only one race – the human race, we are all of the species Homo-sapiens, the only surviving hominid primate. All borders are abstractions and contrary to nature. Humans should be free to travel without restrictions, without visas and without persecution.

My position on immigration is radical but not in the way I have been recently criticized. My radical stance is open borders and the free right of transit.

I think the U.S. Mexico border wall is one of the stupidest and most political stunts ever perpetuated in U.S. politics. It is also a serious threat to the free migration of many non-human animal species and a threat to their survival.

So, to all those misinformed individuals that recently condemned me as anti-immigrant I suggest that in the future before spinning out falsehoods and misinformation that you do a little research.

Thank you, that would be very nice if you would.

However if you choose to persist to further any narrow and opportunistic agenda, go ahead because it only serves to expose your ignorance and your allegiance to deception and quite frankly it is of little consequence to me personally.
