My first engineering boss used this phrase early in my USAF civilian career.
"Learn to be a gentle pest. Enough of a pest that they can't forget about you. Gentle enough that they answer your messages."
The polarity diagram for this would look like this:
The BEST of both gentleness and pestering results in effective action.
The WORST of either gentleness and pestering results in ineffective shunning or ignoring.
