I’ve wanted to start an ongoing collection of beautiful things I’ve discovered while sourcing for projects and falling down the inevitable late-night rabbit holes. Some are pieces I’d love to bring into a client’s home, others have found their way onto my own wish list, and a few are things I’ve personally tried and genuinely love.

Welcome to a new series: Collected Inspiration

Think of this as a running notebook of inspiration—wallpaper, places to stay, vintage finds, books, makers, and anything else that catches my eye along the way. I hope it introduces you to something new and inspires your own home in the process.

Wallpaper has a way of transforming a room unlike almost anything else. Whether it’s a subtle texture, a quiet botanical, or a bold pattern that sets the tone, it instantly adds personality and depth.

A couple of years ago, my partner, son, and I took a slow drive north of Traverse City, winding our way along the Lake Michigan shoreline. As much as I’ll always be loyal to my Wisconsin roots, I’ve developed quite a soft spot for the Michigan side of the lake. In fact, I mentioned it so many times on that trip that my partner eventually started rolling his eyes every time I proclaimed, “I just love it here.”

Somewhere along that drive we stumbled upon The Mill in Glen Arbor, and it immediately became one of those places I mentally filed away under I’ll definitely be back. It checks every box for me: beautifully considered interiors, an exceptional restaurant, a charming café for coffee, pastries, and grab-and-go sandwiches, and tucked behind the main building is a Guest House, with three thoughtfully designed rooms that feel full of charm, collected, and impossibly inviting. The entire property sits beside a gently flowing creek, surrounded by towering trees just off the main drag, making it feel like a quiet retreat hidden in plain sight. It’s the kind of place that makes you want to linger a little longer than you planned.

A little full-circle moment: this fall we’re getting married just outside Suttons Bay, not far from where we first discovered The Mill, and both of our parents will be staying there during the wedding weekend. I can’t wait for them to experience it for themselves. And yes—the wedding planning deserves its own Substack post. I’ll be sharing everything from our venue and my dress to the little discoveries, favorite places, and meaningful details we’ve collected along the way.
