Your world will not get bigger, until you make it bigger.
There is no extended hand coming to pull you out of your funk. Your isolation. To pull you through the door of the mundane or the same-same to an adventurous or exciting experience.
Even the woman who is perfectly happy going a week, in her own space, needs girlfriends.
Even the woman who is introverted, who overthinks a hang date in fast forward before it happens, needs to push herself outside the door and go.
I believe you have a rich inner life. I believe you’re perfectly happy left alone to your thoughts, your creativity. I believe you could entertain yourself alone for days, if left well alone. I believe you’ve been hurt by friends. Friends you let see inside the cage of your ribs and decided to scrape their nails down the most tender parts. I believe the thought of trying again scares the hell out of you.
When the vault is closed, no one can hurt you. And, my love, you need to open it up again.
Sometimes you need to go to the thing, even when you don’t feel like it. When you’re tired. When you have a million more responsible things to do on the list.
You can have a lover, a partner, buried deep in your world: the stone lodged firmly in your sea beneath the sea. A sure, constant, fortifying thing. You might try convince yourself it’s all you need, and still, it is not everything. It is not enough.
If you’ve been feeling isolated, it may be that you need more women around you. Their fire, their fury, their company, their contradictions.
Your world will not get bigger, until you make it bigger. And one way to make it bigger, richer, is by reaching for other women.
