I haven’t only been digging in the garden and picking berries, though the color of my fingers tells a different story. I have been holding down the new fort while my husband’s touring takes him far and wide this year. We recently moved one town over in VT and I think as of today, I’ve officially vanquished the tower of boxes. My favorite moment yet this summer was discovering a swimming hole nearby with friends, black raspberries hanging down over the pocket of clear water. One day’s search and reminders in my phone paints a more accurate picture, “get hornet spray, image of bat poop, image of poison ivy, get bear proof trash can, homemade calamine lotion, get paint for barn doors, make voice memo for Jeff, post about shows, Bev’s goats.
Everything is squared away except posting about shows and visiting Bev’s goats.
I’m playing two sweet shows this very weekend with Jeffrey Foucault and friends. We’ll cover some new and old ground, I cannot wait to sing! Cock n Bull in Galway, NY (7/23- good food!) and Floodwater in Shelburne Falls, MA (7/25).
Then the band and I head to Maine and NH and MA for a few shows in August. Maine, I don’t know how this one snuck up on me, but Portland friends, the full band Night Owl Envies the Mourning Dove tour is finally heading your way.
We’re coming to Vinegar Hill in Arundel, ME (8/7) in 2 weeks! Come if you can and bring everyone you know! We play a summer town fest in North Conway, NH on that same little run. And we are lucky to have Annie Lynch rejoining the band at the sweet Arcadia Folk Festival in Easthampton, MA (8/29) with a lovely lineup at that festival.
And this year’s Green Mountain Bluegrass and Roots looks to be a banger! I’m playing my first Lamplighter (late night stage in the woods, as Caitlin Canty and Friends. I’m still adding friends, and can’t wait to feel out my songs with new and old pals. This is a magic festival and the most magic stage. Come for the whole deal Aug 13-16 in Manchester, VT.
I hope your summer is full of ripe berries and cold swimming holes. See you out there,
x
Caitlin
