I’ve been trying all week to find something worth writing about,
but I keep coming up empty.
I’ll try again later.

“Be still, and know that I am God.”
— Psalms 46:10
What do you tend to fill the silence with when nothing comes—and what might happen if you didn’t?
Holy Presence,
We confess how quickly we rush to fill empty space—
with words, with answers, with noise.
When nothing comes,
help us trust that silence is not failure
and emptiness is not absence.
Teach us to rest without explaining ourselves,
to wait without panicking,
and to believe that worth is not measured
by constant output.
Meet us where words run out.
Amen.
The Elephant Chronicles are meditations based on my upcoming book “The Lie that Kills Us: We All Have Elephants. It explores the elephants we avoid: denial, addiction, trauma, death, and grace.
If you’d like me to let you know when it’s released, send a note to: pastored@addictionandfaith.com
I’d be honored to keep you in the loop.
The book is available now: Amazon
