We do not beg the storm for mercy,
nor do we ask the earth for permission to stand.
The witch and the wild are not two separate things—
we are the same fire, just wearing different skins.
She gave us the venom of the adder and the memory of the oak,
not so we could hide in the shadows of her trees,
but so we could become the shadow that makes the hunters freeze.
When we speak, the air grows teeth.
When we rise, the ground beneath our heels remembers how to shake.
We are the daughters of the landslide,
the sisters of the sea when it decides to swallow the shore.
They spent centuries trying to tame her valleys and burn our bones,
but you cannot conquer a kingdom that knows how to reinvent the flame.
Look at your hands—they are made of her ancient, unyielding dark.
Look at your chest—that is her thunder breaking through.
We are not bowing to the earth anymore.
We are the earth,
waking up,
and taking back the crown.

The Beauty of a Switchblade will always be a free space to read and rest. If these words found a home in you, you can hold the physical weight of my journey in your hands. My debut collection of prose-poetry and original illustrations, Where the Broken Light Falls, is now available on Amazon.

I am Brandi Lynn. Welcome to a beautifully chaotic space for the outliers, the pattern-seekers, and the sensory-overloaded. We aren’t here to watch the healing; we’re here to watch the clockwork fail. If this resonates with you, I’d love to have you stay.
