The lighting is the main key when photographing these droplets and to make the flower pop against the black. Many people ask if I have done the black background in the processing, but the answer is always no. I have a black velvet fabric that I use for these backgrounds. When using a macro lens for this the focus area is very shallow and therefor gives the background a nice softness to the photo. When working with flowers the time period to use them is also very short for their freshness.
I find these photos to be very suitable for interior decoration, as a series for collectors, and they have to be printed on a good Fine Art paper that can handle the blackness and the contrasting colors.
This is the first photo story about my Studio Florals. More is to come! Stay tuned.
All photos are available as Fine Art prints in limited editions of 5 prints each, unless other mentioned beneath the photo. The prints are manually checked, numbered and signed by me and include a Certificate of Authenticity.
