Burning Ambulance is a 100% independent, reader- and listener-supported enterprise. We have always been funded through record sales and newsletter subscriptions. But in 2026, we were granted 501(c)(3) status and are now a tax-exempt nonprofit, so we are launching our first-ever fundraising drive in order to support our operations through this year and beyond.
So far this year, we’ve already released three amazing records:
Ava Mendoza’s Alive Alone, Alive Together, a live album featuring drummer Hamid Drake on half its tracks;
Joel Futterman and William Parker’s Transcendent Universe, a gorgeous album of piano-bass duos;
and the Cecil Taylor Orchestra Humane’s At Iridium 2004, a digital set of 14 complete performances by the late pianist’s big band.
Our next two releases, out this fall, will be:
Wadada Leo Smith’s Constellations And Hemispheres, a collection of pieces by four different groups with overlapping personnel;
and Michael Sarian’s In This Desert, the latest album by his quartet Esquina and our first-ever double CD.
In the future, we want to expand our activities. We’d like to launch a literary journal, promote live music events, and more. And we’ve got several albums already in the pipeline for release in 2027. But all of this requires your support.
