Newsletter ideas to get subscribers on auto-pilot

Let’s talk demand-driven business ideas.

This week a different format.

In stead of 3 specific keywords I share actionable steps (and some keywords) for 1 business type.

I ran a newsletter for 2 years. Growing it to 13,000 subs was not easy. I had to post a lot on social media, be active in niche communities, recycle content on other platforms,…

If I could start over today, I would start a newsletter around an untapped keyword so I could rank in the top 10 on google and get subscribers on auto-pilot.

Here is how I would do it:

• Go to Build The Keyword smart search and try terms like:

  • ideas

  • best practices

  • examples

  • trends

  • memes

  • …

    

  PS: I added a bunch more newsletter keywords to the library.

• Bookmark the keywords that:

  • are business related (not: fashion trends 1940)

  • have a recurring need (not for example: 2 week notice example)

  • readers want to keep learning about it (not: curly hair ideas)

  • are interesting for you to write about

• Check the top 10 results in google and make sure there are no other newsletters

• Buy a domain name, ideally the exact keyword

• Start the newsletter on beehiiv (best for making ad monetization easier) or Substack (free forever)

• Optimise your page for the keyword (H1, meta title, body copy, alt text…)

• Create super valuable content (!)

• Make sure your content is not behind a paywall or subscribe wall (google doesn’t like that, you want people to spend time on your page)

He was ranking in the top 10 for google for ai podcast generator.

A founder with a SaaS in the same niche reached out to Lee.

And he bought it for the domain and traffic (to redirect to his app).
