Raising boys is confusing, overwhelming, & isolating.
We’re all doing our best to figure out how to raise great guys while living in a world that continues to elevate not-so-great guys and isn’t even sure how to define “great guy.”
We get calls, emails and texts about our boys’ behavior at school (& elsewhere) & are convinced (often) that we are the problem. That our sons are the problem. That if we just did things better or pushed him harder — like others must be doing — then we wouldn’t be getting all those phone calls and emails and he’d be on the path to success.
Clearly, I have been there! (Someday I’ll tell you about some of the behind-the-scenes things I was dealing with while writing a book about how to raise a great guy…)
I think the biggest thing I learned during my years of boy-raising is that I was not alone. I wasn’t the only mom dealing with these issues. Most other moms of boys were too!
I also learned that talking with other “boy moms” is one of the best things we can do for our mental health, our parenting, and our boys. Sharing our struggles and successes, we feel less alone. We normalize our experiences. We learn from one another and inspire one another — and THAT, my friends, is what boys moms need, more than anything.
You don’t need another parenting book (or newsletter) as much as you need support. Compassion. Understanding. From people who get it! People who are in the trenches too.
That’s why I’m starting a Boy Mom Circle — a small, facilitated conversation space for moms of boys who want to speak honestly about what they’re seeing, what feels hardest right now, and what actually helps.
This is not:
A class
A lecture
Or a place where someone is trying to sell you something
It is:
A space to talk about what’s happening without judgement
A place to hear from other moms who get it
An opportunity for much needed, regular support, outside of your local community
My Boy Mom Circle is for moms who:
are raising boys ages 5-15
want to better understanding their boys’ behavior
want support without shame or blame
are looking for honest conversation
We’ll meet once a month on Zoom for a 75-minute facilitated conversation.
I’ll open with a short reflection or prompt, then guide the conversation so everyone space to participate. During the first part of our first session, we’ll jointly develop group norms to guide our interactions — I want our group to be a safe place for everyone!
Our topics of conversation will vary according to group needs. Topics may include:
school struggles
emotional shutdowns and angry outbursts
behavioral challenges
the day-to-day-reality of raising boys
advocating for your son
After each session, you’ll receive a short follow-up email with key reflections and ideas to carry forward.
We’ll begin with a 3- month founding Circle.
The goal is to keep this group small and consistent so we can build trust and real conversation over time.
We’ll meet on the following Wednesdays:
May 20
June 17
July 15
Time: 7:00–8:15 pm Central
(8:00 pm ET / 5:00 pm PT)
$25/month (cancel anytime)
OR $60 for the full 3-month founding round — offer exclusively for paid subscribers of Building Boys Bulletin
Monthly participants can cancel anytime. I’ll send a reminder before the next 3-month round begins so you can decide whether you’d like to continue.
This Circle will continue in future 3-month rounds.
You’re always welcome to continue—or take a break—depending on what feels right for you.

I’ll follow up with the Zoom link & details.
I’ve been writing & talking about boys for nearly 20 years. I’ve raised four sons, written two books about boys, & spent years in conversation with parents, educators, and experts.
Again & again, I hear from moms who love their son deeply but feel alone, judged, and unsure. Moms who need space & time to talk freely & honestly with other moms who get it. Other moms who are also doing their best in a culture that doesn’t make things easy.
This Circle is my attempt to create that space
If you’ve been wishing for a place where you don’t have to explain why boys matter, come join us.
Here’s to building boys!
