A Spiritual Reset for the Overstimulated Generation

We are living in a time where the body is awake, but the soul is tired.

  • We wake up and check our phones before we check in with ourselves.

  • We eat while scrolling.

  • We rest but do not feel restored.

  • We are connected to everyone, yet often disconnected from our own inner voice.

This is why a day like Guru Pradosh in Adhik Maas is not just relevant for our grandparents or for people who already follow rituals deeply.

It is deeply relevant for today’s generation.

Because Pradosh is not only about fasting, chanting, or visiting a temple.

It is about creating a pause.

A pause from constant noise.
A pause from overthinking.
A pause from emotional heaviness.
A pause from the pressure to always perform, achieve, reply, post, prove, and become.

On 28 May 2026, Guru Pradosh arrives inside Adhik Maas, a rare spiritual window described in the newsletter as a meeting of Shiva’s consciousness, Guru’s wisdom, and the sacred expansion of Purushottam Maas.

But for today’s generation, this day can be understood very simply:

It is a cosmic invitation to detox your mind, reset your energy, and return to your inner centre.

  • You do not have to renounce your life.

  • You do not have to know every mantra.

  • You do not have to perform everything perfectly.

Start with what is possible.

For many people today, the biggest addiction is not food.
It is stimulation.

So on this Pradosh, try this:

Keep your phone away for at least 90 minutes during Pradosh Kaal.

No Instagram.
No WhatsApp checking.
No reels.
No random scrolling.

Let the mind experience what it has forgotten:

Silence.

Sometimes, the real vrat is not giving up grains.
It is giving up distraction.

Shiva drank the poison of the universe.
But today, most of us are carrying our own poisons quietly.

  • Comparison.

  • Jealousy.

  • Anger.

  • Guilt.

  • Unspoken hurt.

  • Fear of failure.

  • Attachment to someone who is no longer good for us.

On this day, ask yourself:

What is one poison I am ready to stop feeding?

Write it down.
Offer it to Shiva.
Do not make it dramatic.
Make it honest.

Today’s generation does not lack ambition.
It lacks inner direction.

We have too many options, too many opinions, too many timelines to compare ourselves with.

So instead of making ten resolutions, make one sankalp:

“I choose clarity over confusion.”
“I choose discipline over distraction.”
“I choose peace over proving.”
“I choose healing over repeating old patterns.”

One honest sankalp can become stronger than a hundred half-hearted goals.

Not every apology needs a long conversation.
Not every healing needs a dramatic message.

Sometimes healing begins when you stop replaying the same old hurt inside your mind.

On this Pradosh, think of one person with whom your heart feels heavy.

  • You may call them.

  • You may message them.

Or you may simply pray:

“May both of us be released from this pain.”

For today’s generation, relationship healing is not a weakness.
It is emotional maturity.

Most evenings today are lost to screens, food delivery, noise, and exhaustion.

But Pradosh says:

The evening is not meant only for entertainment.
It is meant for return.

So on 28 May, light one diya.
Sit for five minutes.
Chant “Om Namah Shivaya” 108 times, or even 11 times if that is all you can do.

  • Let the nervous system slow down.

  • Let the breath deepen.

  • Let the body remember that peace is still possible.

Here is a simple version anyone can follow:

Morning:
Before checking your phone, sit for one minute and say:
“Shiva, guide my mind today.”

During the day:
Eat light. Speak consciously. Avoid unnecessary arguments.

Evening:

  • Keep your phone away for 90 minutes.

  • Light a diya.

  • Chant Om Namah Shivaya.

  • Write down one thing you are ready to release.

Before sleep:
Place one worry at Shiva’s feet and say:
“I have carried this enough. Now I surrender.”

  • This is not complicated.

  • This is not outdated.

  • This is not blind belief.

This is inner hygiene.

Just as we clean the body daily, some days are given to clean the mind.

Some will call it ritual.
Some will call it tradition.
Some will call it faith.

But for today’s generation, maybe Pradosh is something much simpler.

It is a reminder that you are not meant to live permanently overwhelmed.
You are not meant to scroll your way through discomfort.
You are not meant to carry every emotion alone.

On 28 May 2026, take one evening seriously.

  • Fast from distraction.

  • Step away from noise.

  • Light one lamp.

  • Chant with whatever faith you have.

  • Release one burden.

  • Heal one emotion.

  • Come back to yourself.

Because Shiva is not asking for perfection.
He is asking for presence.

Har Har Mahadev. 🙏

With Warmth & Love,
Dr Monika Singh Shubhaa
