The gross commercialism of Christmas is designed to lock you into your lower chakra and prevent you from reaching ‘your place on the throne.’
There is a little known relationship between your charkas (the seven energy centers in your body), the Winter Solstice (the shortest day of the year), and Christmas (the proposed birth date of Jesus). I’d like to connect some dots for you.
The winter solstice was Sunday the 21st. It was the shortest day of the year.
The word solstice means, “sun is still.”
It is a day which should be set aside for you to be like the sun, to still yourself, meditate and or pray. It is a time to focus your attention on healing and focusing all your energies on becoming the best you for the coming year.
In the Northern hemisphere, during the Winter Solstice, the sun is still for four days:
December the 21st
December the 22nd
December the 23rd, and
December the 24th
During this time the length of the day does not increase nor decrease for four days. The Earth reaches its maximum axial tilt of 23.5° and then starts to move in the opposite direction.
On December the 25th, the length of the day increases by one minute per day.
7,000 years ago, ancient scientists (who we today would call astronomers and astrophysicists), said that the sun was “born” on December the 25th.
The True Meaning of the Season
If we understood the real meaning of the Winter Solstice, we wouldn’t be partying, drinking and doing things that we might regret nine months later.
These are sacred times, and our ancestors understood that we should be still, give the gift of life to ourselves, and reaffirm our relationship with the Creator.
Ancient ancestors understood that this is the season for to focus your attention on what you’ve done throughout the year, and what you can so to make your life better, your family’s life better, and your community better, throughout the coming year.
That’s the real reason for the season.
Unfortunately, the real reason for the season has been camouflaged in myths about Santa Claus, elves, and flying reindeer. These are all distractions designed to separate you from truth and your true power.
One fundamentally important truth is that nobody knows the date that Jesus Christ was born. Nobody!
December 25th was chosen by religious leaders, merchants and politicians, in order to divert attention away from a gift that keeps on giving and costs you nothing but your time.
Maurice White understood this. And just a few days before the solstice, December 19, 2025, would have been his 84th birthday.
Maurice passed February the 4th, 2016, just 34 days after we lost Dr. Francis Cress Welsing.
I was at Dr. Welsing’s bedside when she took her last breath, and I remember where I was when I got the call that Maurice passed.
It was Black History Month and I was about to give a presentation at Arizona State University. I received a call from my aunt Renee in Chicago and she said, “Tony, I don’t know if you’ve heard, but Maurice White just passed.” I was broken hearted, but I was glad to receive that sad news from someone who cared for me and offered her heartfelt condolences.
Everybody in my family knows I love Earth, Wind, and Fire. I love their music. I love their love for Egyptian history, symbolism and art. I love the messages in their music. Maurice White was like my spiritual big brother, and there are many who say that I bear a resemblance to him. There is absolutely no doubt that we shared a love and appreciation for music, African history, Kemetic culture, metaphysics and spirituality.
I discussed some of these simularities in my newest book From The Browder File III: A Browder Perspective. Chapter six is titled How an Earth, Wind and Fire Album Changed My Life. The album was their 1977 masterpiece “All ‘N All.” The cover of the album features an illustration of the Temple of Rameses II at Abu Simbel.
Those who have traveled to Egypt with me, (I’ll be taking my last study tour to see this temple in July 2026) know that that is my favorite Egyptian temple. Abu Simble was built around 1225 BCE and represents one of the greatest examples of what the human mind can achieve.
It comprises the best example of:
Architecture
Engineering
Astronomy
History, and
Culture
The Symbolism in the Album Artwork
The inside cover of the “All ‘N All” album represents one of the most meaningful images in the Earth, Wind and Fire catalogue. It depicts the Great Pyramid with a capstone floating above it, and the all-seeing eye. We also see two angels hovering over the head of Her-em-akhet, the so-called sphinx.
There are 12 pillars surrounding an open book in the foreground of the painting. An open book is a metaphor for knowledge and information. Atop each pillar is a symbol that represents a path by which knowledge is brought to a people. There are symbols associated with Christianity, Judaism, Islam and Hinduism. There are symbols associated with music, astrology and metaphysics.
The 12 different symbols represent 12 different ways that knowledge was brought to people in different cultures all around the world. It also suggests 12 different ways that people can come to know the God force within them. The combined imagery suggests that this knowledge originated in the ancient Nile Valley.
1977 was a pivotal year for me. It was the year I saw the King Tut exhibit in Washington DC. It was also the year I saw Dr. Ivan Van Sertima, author of They Came Before Columbus: The African Presence in America.
Van Sertima was lecturing at Georgetown Law School and he showed numerous pictures of 15-ton carved heads of Africans found attached to temples throughout Central Mexico.
Van Sertima told a story of African history that not only blew my mind, it freed my mind.
He said that these people, who were known to the indigenous population as the Olmec, traveled from Africa, specifically, the Nile Valley, and were part of Kushite and Kemetic culture and civilization (ancient Egypt and Kush).
In that same presentation, Van Sertima said words that I’ll never forget. He said that these ‘ancient Egyptians were black.’
No one had ever told me that the ancient Egyptians were Black. This information contradicted everything I had been taught in school. Armed with this new historical perspective, I returned to the King Tut exhibit and I saw a different exhibit.
I saw myself in the images of this boy king.
I saw myself in the faces of the craftsmen who designed and fabricated all the jewellery and statues in the exhibit. It was as if I was seeing the world for the first time. ThaIt was the moment I began taking Egyptian history seriously.
I made my first trip to Egypt three years later and I’ve been traveling to Egypt regularly over the past 45 years, leading study tours and financing archaeological excavations.
I completed my archaeological work in Egypt in 2023 and will be leading my last study tours to Egypt next July and December.
When I conclude those tours, I will have been to Egypt 70 times and I’ll be ready to turn the page on that chapter of my life. There are other countries I would like to explore in the time I have left on earth.
Last Monday I was listening to African Deep Thought on WPFW, and was pleased to hear that the host, Brother Ka’Ba was dedicating the show to Maurice White and Earth, Wind and Fire.
I immediately texted Ka’Ba two pages from the chapter in my new book that dedicated to Earth, Wind and Fire. He texted me back and invited me to call in and talk about my book and Maurice White.
Ka’ba informed the audience that he’s going to be celebrating his 10th anniversary on air in May, and that I was his very first guest. The theme of that 2016 show was, “The Music, The Message, The Metaphysics of Earth, Wind, and Fire.”
Ka’Ba is a talented vocalist and performer in the “Earth, Wind and Fire Tribute band.” Our love for the Man, the Music and the Culture runs deep.
I’d like to share one example of the metaphysical message of Earth, Wind, and Fire we discussed on Brother Ka’Ba’s first show. It’s the title song of the 1975, triple Platinum album “That’s the Way of the World.”
The chorus contains the heart and soul of song.
The chorus is:
‘Hearts afire creates love desire
Take you high and higher to the world you belong
Hearts afire creates love desire
High and higher to your place on the throne’
The first verse is:
‘We come together on this special day
Sing our message loud and clear
Looking back, we’ve touched on sorrowful days
Future, past, they disappear
You will find peace of mind
If you look way down in your heart and soul
Don’t hesitate ‘cause the world seems cold
Stay young at heart
Ah, ‘cause you’re never, never old at heart
That’s the way
Of the world
Plant your flower
And you grow a pearl
Child is born with a heart of gold
Way of the world
Makes his heart so cold’
Chorus:
‘Hearts afire creates love desire
Take you high and higher to the world you belong

Anyone who’s studied metaphysics or meditation knows that the chorus refers to the seven chakras. The seven energy centers in the human body through which our life force flows.
Each chakra corresponds to a part of the body and the objective of life is to open each pathway and allow energy to flow to from the root chakra to the crown chakra.
When the pathway is open, and remains open, one experiences health and happiness. If the pathway is closed, or partially closed, one experiences illness, and challenges.
This information was common knowledge ages ago, but it has been hidden from contemporary society and made taboo. But once a person develops the courage to venture out of “The Matrix,” a whole new world awaits them.
Maurice White discovered that world and created messages within his music and performances to help others discover that world for themselves. I discovered that world, and Maurice White at the right time in my life. I’ve had an incredible journey, and like Maurice, I’ve sought to enlighten others through my work.
The lower chakra is the root chakra. This charka is associated with materialism, commercialism, and that’s the level the Christmas holiday season appeals to. Contemporary citizens are encouraged to focus on material things and the here and now. Ancient societies were encouraged to raise their energy higher, higher to the fourth chakra: the heart chakra.
If you raise the energy to the heart chakra, then you have raised your energy to the love consciousness.
The love consciousness frees the mind from fear and worries which weighs down the soul and makes the heart heavy. When your energy reaches the heart chakra it’s easier to rise higher, higher – to your place on the throne.
The throne is the seventh chakra, the crown chakra.
The crown charka is where you experience heaven on earth and become one with the God force that has always resided in you. This experience was depicted in religious imagery as a halo. That image depicts the activation of the crown chakra and represents someone having reached their “place on the throne.”
This painting of Mary and Jesus with halos depicts the same concept but lacks any spiritual and historical context. The painting is titled, “Rest on the Flight into Egypt” by Luc-Olivier Merson and hangs in the Boston Museum of Fine Arts.
These thoughts frighten people who’ve been socialized and brainwashed to believe that meditation or metaphysics are anti-religious and represent works of the devil. But that’s the furthest thing from the truth.
What I can tell you, based on my own personal experiences, is that meditation is your doorway to freedom. And the keys that unlocks the door can be found in the Nile Valley.
The concept of the chakras as power centers was illustrated on the cover of Earth, Wind and Fire’s 1983 album “Powerlight.” One can easily see the seven charkas and the power surging through, and connecting, each charka.
Maurice White was a student of Music, ancient African history and Metaphysics.
He became a master teacher and incorporated this knowledge into his music and the stage performances with his band. This masterful combination made Earth, Wind and Fire one of the largest selling black groups in history. Maurice often said that if they were White, they would have been bigger than the Beatles and the Rolling Stones.
Maurice White lived to create messages for those with ears to hear, and a mind to understand. His message was simple and clear… there were many ways to reach your highest potential, find one that woks for you and leave the world better than the one you inherited.
I’ve learned a lot over the past 50 years. This is my gift to you during this season of giving.
It’s information which is always available to those willing to seek it. Maurice White found it and shared it. Now, I do the same.
Enjoy this moment of stillness.
As the sun is reborn on December 25th, may you come forth by day and experience a new life full of endless possibilities. May you reap the benefits of all the beauty you bring into the world.
And “if there ain’t no beauty, you better make some beauty!”
