In the neverending journey of trying to understand where all this started, I’ve been thinking a lot about BMX and the impact it had on my life and my creative path.
This is going to be a little loose, so hold on.
The BMX bike has always been the ultimate tool for exploration. From the moment the training wheels came off, to that first scraped knee, to taking a corner just far enough to disappear from your parents’ view. Exploring neighborhoods. Cities. Eventually countries.
BMX is where I first learned how to build. How to take something and make it my own. Stickers. Number plates. Spray paint. It was all expression.
Building dirt jumps taught me how to create my own space. How to shape something that wasn’t there before. It taught me how to work together, to build together, to come together.
BMX taught me to see the world differently. We see it differently. Every curb, every ledge, every line becomes a canvas. And we learned how to paint it.
Thank you, BMX.
