Happy fourth, happy Taywedding weekend, happy July, etc etc! I’ve been debating how to post during these long holiday weekends but I know that I was certainly not reading shit on Friday so decided to wait until after the secret garden at Madison Garden happened for us to CHAT.
My last week has been sweaty and busy. I recorded some great podcasts and newsletter conversations that should be rolling out later this month. I even stopped by Iconic Magazines to see my Vogue cover in person. Never gets old to see your name in print!!
Over the last few days, the Taylor Swift Scholar had logged the fuck ON. I made an appearance on CNN International on Thursday from the comfort of my bedroom. Then I set a 4:30 a.m. alarm on Saturday morning to make the rounds in Manhattan. I joined CBS Saturday Morning’s Jo Ling Kent outside of MSG for a chat then ended up at the Intrepid for Bloomberg This Weekend’s special Fourth of July broadcast. My one and only weekend hot dog was from the bag of Sonic delivery in the makeshift greenroom on the Intrepid that seemed to be part of a segment they did on all the different types of hot dogs around the country. And of course my byline had to be somewhere in honor of the nuptials: I hit the wedding news for The Guardian!
On Friday, I trekked down to Brighton with a few friends for the 100 degree heat wave. Trust that Confessions II was playing on my hourlong commute to the beach. Madonna and Stuart Price, I owe you my life. When I arrived, I went crazy at Imereti1, a Georgian cafe a couple blocks from the boardwalk, and picked up some of the strangest beach snacks you could possibly imagine. The girls and I ended the day with beers, vereniki and chilled watermelon at Tatiana. After all those morning news hits yesterday, I ate wings at the aptly named Wingbar as France beat Paraguay. We met a bunch of guys from the Canadian Navy (forgot it was Fleet Week!) who took shots with us as we all sang Nickelback’s “How You Remind Me.” Life can be so beautiful.
On to a special Taywedding report…
