There are only so many hours in a day. What we choose to do with them matters, because the present moment is the only one we truly have. That’s why it’s essential to be intentional: choose wisely, give our best, reflect on what we’ve done, make plans for tomorrow, and live in deep gratitude, for the gift of breath, presence, and our humanness.

My 9 year old daughter’s recent watercolor artwork, liken to life, full of peaks and valleys.

Like many, I’ve wrestled with the never-ending to-do list. But lately, I’ve given myself more grace. I’ve come to accept that I simply cannot do it all, and that’s okay. We’re living in a time where the pace is relentless, like a river in full surge. I tried to keep my Substack raft afloat, moving with the current. Then life presented a choice. I pulled my craft ashore and paused, making space for something new to germinate.

Lake life, half full before the Texas floods with lots of sandy beach, all underwater now with the lake having risen to the tree line.

Since my last post, life has unfolded with joyful fullness. We've celebrated Mother’s Day, Spring carnivals, our daughter’s birthday, friends’ birthdays, Father’s Day, Summer Solstice, and Independence Day. Our homeschool journey has continued, even through summer, enriched by new learning and adventures. Our daughter completed a jiu-jitsu competition course, in addition to regular training, and competed in her first tournament. We took a whirlwind trip to Six Flags and Hurricane Harbor in Dallas and enjoyed countless summer swims, with more to come.

My husband and I do our best to keep pace, staying active with gym time, yoga, and outdoor workouts. It’s one way we stay grounded and energized to keep up with our daughter’s vibrant spirit.

Carnival time with friends

This summer in Texas has been uniquely beautiful. Our hilltop home was spared from recent floods, and we remain deeply grateful, even as we hold in our hearts those who weren’t as fortunate. Our freshly landscaped front yard, completed this spring, now hums with life, hummingbirds flitting fiercely between blossoms thanks to the cool and wet summer. Lake Travis, being only half full since before we moved here over three years, rose dramatically to over 90% capacity in just weeks this July. We may have lost our beach under water, yet the full lake provides an abundance of new adventures.

Lake Travis almost full after the floods

There’s a strange harmony here: the coexistence of flourishing growth and heartbreaking loss. It reminds me that nature often mirrors life, both can hold joy and sorrow at the same time.

The true reason for my pause in writing is this: I’ve been pouring my time and heart into building a new business. Not a day goes by that I don’t think about writing, but I’ve also found tremendous joy and purpose in this new endeavor. Watching it grow and gain momentum has been an incredible experience. For now, I’m allowing the current to carry me where it will. Stay tuned.

My budding business, more info to come

I know I’m not alone in this. Friends, fellow parents, and kindred spirits have also taken leap, redefining themselves, their work, and their rhythm. Life is far too short not to try something new. The only true failure is in never daring to begin.

Our purpose in life, our daughter, our family

Whatever season you’re in, own it. What others think of your choices is none of your business. Choose kindness. Spend time with those you love. Stay present. Live with compassion and gratitude. And always be the change you wish to see in this beautiful bountiful world.

With love, health, and knowledge, may you live abundantly. See you again in the next post.

Warmly,

Brit-Simone

I love to share what works for me and my family. May you too find what best serves you and yours. These are two supplements in our daily essentials stack that I simply would not live without. ☺️

  • Have you read about the nutrient that can:

    • Reduce the risk of and reverse fatty liver disease, type 2 diabetes, and heart disease.

    • Reduce the risk of cancer.

    • Meaningfully slow the effects of aging to improve overall well-being.

    • If you haven’t yet read The Longevity Nutrient by nerdy, yet super cool veterinary epidemiologist, Dr. Stephanie Venn-Watson, you seriously will want to!

  • Then, you will want to start using Fatty 15 if you’re not getting enough C-15 in your current diet. (And from what I have learned, I know you’re not!) We all take this, my daughter included!

  • Finally, for the adults aging gracefully, check out what Timeline’s Mitopure supplement and it’s unique delivery system does for your mitochondria. It is the first and only clinically tested, highly pure Urolithin A postbiotic that improves cellular energy and muscle strength. Yes please!

I Am Grateful For Your Support!

  • When you Upgrade to Paid on Substack, donate to Buy Me a Coffee, or utilize an affiliate link on any of the Cool Stuff included in any of my content (at no extra cost to you and often with a discount just for you), you are supporting an independent writing mama who balances each day with family life, homeschooling, and developing this entrepreneurial endeavor. I am grateful for your support.
