It’s been kind of a difficult month. I apparently spent all month writing one story. And then when I finished it a day ago, made a cover and blurb and keywords, hit “Publish”, nothing happened!
Well, I got an error message, as you see. Fix the highlighted errors, and continue, right?
Trouble was that there were no highlighted error(s) to fix. So far as I could see, everything was correct. I went through each of the three pages of the “Create a new book” process and everything looked fine.
Eventually I went off to work, conscious that this was dead time. Usually it takes a day for a new story to be reviewed and approved, and while my story was in limbo the clock was not operating.
When I got home that evening nothing had changed. I looked through forums and found that others had experienced the same thing over the years with no satisfactory answer.
Nothing for it but to get onto support chat. I don’t know if “Sahil” was human or not but they assured me that it was a problem on their end and they were working on it and no, they couldn’t advise me when it would be fixed.
More limbo. I kept on trying to publish and a couple of hours ago, it worked. Anyway, that’s “In Review” right now and I imagine that it will go live some time tomorrow.
At that point I’ll have to update the “About the Author” section in other books under that pen-name so that satisfied readers can click on a link to the new title.
As well as updating my Amazon author and Goodreads pages, same deal.
I’m still at the stage where individual book sales make an identifiable bump. A steady ten bucks a week. As I’ve said before, once I get a decent catalogue up, there will be a snowball effect on sales and reads.
Oh well, what am I wasting time on analysis when I should be writing? Another little gift for paid subscribers after the paywall.
