She did promo in Indy at WNDY, and WXIN before heading to Vegas and working at KLAS. Now BRENDA MICHAEL has a new title and it’s a doozie! She’s an Executive Producer for an indie film - Background. This calls for a new pair of designer sunglasses and a black Lexus (seriously at AFI it seemed as if all the EP’s drove them). Let her tell you about it: Background is an indie short film created by Don Stuck, someone I’ve known and worked with for years through the Indianapolis production community. The film is being developed and produced in Indiana and centers around two struggling background actors who hatch a robbery plan after being cast in a commercial shooting inside one of the nation’s largest banks. As the tagline says: “Once the shooting begins… the shooting begins.” What really drew me to the project is that it blends suspense with the behind-the-scenes culture of filmmaking — especially the world of background actors and production crews that most audiences rarely think about. It has a clever premise, strong visual potential, and that gritty indie spirit that makes these kinds of films exciting to build. Don is currently assembling cast, crew, and production partners for the film. The project is intended to be a SAG short film and will utilize Indiana talent both in front of and behind the camera. Production is expected to take place in Indianapolis later this year. I’ve joined the project as an Executive Producer, and I’m thrilled to support something being built from the ground up by creatives who genuinely love independent filmmaking and collaborative storytelling.
