There’s a sweet spot with restaurants, a place they create, using the menu and the atmosphere, that makes you feel comfortable and relaxed but still special enough to feel like you’re out for an occasion. I think that’s difficult to reach, often they’re either too obnoxious with a complicated menu that makes you sit up straight and slightly on edge. Alternatively, there’s such a distinct lack of effort thats gone into either the menu, the environment or both that leaves you feeling like you wasted your night off.

Caper & Cure manage to nail this sweet spot, and they do so every time you go in. Whether it’s a lunch service, with the sun shining through their big glass windows or it’s a dinner with all the candles flickering away, they seem to create an atmosphere that feels chic but homely. The menu compliments this perfectly — there’s a familiarity in it whilst still being interesting and exciting. I don’t think they’re reinventing the wheel or taking me to places I’ve neve…
