Well, hello there!
Yes, I am back and yes, we’re on a different platform! Don’t panic. Nothing changes on your end and this newsletter will still land safely in your inbox.
So… what have I been up to since we last spoke?
Oh you know. Just getting my debut rom-com, The Boyfriend Clause, ready to launch into the world. No big deal.
(I lie. It’s a very big deal and I’m only slightly panicking as we approach the big day.)
And that big day is March 3. Please mark it in your calendars, your phones, your brains. Wherever you keep the important stuff!
If you follow me on socials, you may have already seen the cover for The Boyfriend Clause, but in case you missed it, here it is in all its glory.
A massive thank you to Lucy Davey and Imogen Stubbs for bringing this to life. It’s more than I could have hoped for and is truly all kinds of perfect!
And here’s the blurb:
Sabrina’s new Melbourne cafe, her lifelong dream, is struggling—despite her exceptional baked goods and fabulous coffee.
Her love life isn’t faring much better—she just keeps dating the wrong kind of guy. But the boyfriend clause in her loan agreement requires her to be in a committed relationship or pay back the loan in its entirety.
That would mean losing the cafe.
What could be worse? Making up a fake boyfriend, and accidentally giving him the name of the rude and brooding famous writer in her apartment block, the one she wildly insulted when he moved in—that’s what!
And when that leads to the rude and brooding writer joining her rambunctious family on a trip to England and a charade of perfect romance, Sabrina finds herself navigating a whirlwind of contradictory emotions. Including an unignorable awareness of just how infuriatingly hot the insufferable writer is.
But as the boundaries blur, one question looms large: what, or who, is he writing about?
The Boyfriend Clause had a little moment in the sun last week, making its debut in The Weekend Australian’s Culture and Books section as a book to look out for in 2026. Yes. A biggie. A very big biggie. So big that I keep staring at it just to make sure I didn’t imagine the whole thing. And because I have zero chill you better believe I took a copy of the paper into work to show it off!
And because the Australian Writers’ Centre is forever excellent at supporting their graduates, there was a lovely shout out in their weekly newsletter. Another pinch me moment!
We have a launch, people!
I’ll be celebrating the release of The Boyfriend Clause with the incredibly talented Holly Brunnbauer, author of What Did I Miss?
If you’d like to come along and help launch my book into the world, I would absolutely love to see you there.
On the Edge by Kate Horan
A compelling page-turner that drew me in from page one.
Home to the Heart Country by Libby Iriks
A heart-warming romance that swept me away and almost had me packing my bags for a sea change to WA.
I’m clearly in my thriller era!
His & Hers was twisty and brilliant and, whilst it had it’s faults (I believe because they strayed from the book) I adored every minute of it.
The Dry and Force of Nature have been on my ‘must watch’ list for a while so I hit pause on my bemoaning of the scorching temperatures in Melbourne to camp out under the air conditioner and watch these two gems.
Oh Revenge, I have a love/hate relationship with you and I gave up on you eons ago, but I’ve come crawling back to give you a second chance. This is one of those shows that has an epic first season and then just dwindles. Quickly. But I’m hanging in there.
That’s all from me this month. I shall see you all again in February… I promise!
