Brick Briscoe · Somewhere with Brick Briscoe

April has been a whirlwind of good things, thankfully as the world is spiraling out of control. I take solace in ideas, friends, and family.

Found Footage has found footing (pun intended) and is slowly finding a niche in the world. I hope to do some solo/trio shows to promote as the year continues on.

The Song Show keeps me busy with coming up with new ideas for episodes and digging through interviews I did in London. I get excited every time I work on the show.

I keep my personal time exciting by watching my wife Marta work in her garden. Her passion for that is an amazing role model for me to re-ignite daily. She’s awesome.

I’m working on new songs daily, as well as, a couple of records. One is of music I’ve written for my or others’ tv projects. The other is something that has been nagging at me for a couple of years.

When Brick Briscoe & The Skinny were invited to England to play the Great British Alternative Festival in Skegness, we decided to play some other shows while we were over there. First plenty of rehearsal time and a show in Paris at Basement, then immediately after we flew to Dublin to get to Belfast. Then two days later, the festival, only to go back to Paris to go to Lorient in Bretagne. Then back to Paris for our finale. It was a whirlwind.

While in Belfast we played an amazing little bar that I had been to before when I was doing my TV show. The American Bar in Sailortown is one of the places you could hang out all day. Upstairs there’s a stunning, smallish, venue, that my pal Davy O’Neill organized for us to play. As luck would have it, the venue was tied into Nigel Martyn’s Dock Street recording studio next door. We coerced Nigel (with money) to record multitracks of the evening.

So, we are going to release an EP of that wonderfully messy night in a small club with a bunch of new friends trying to figure us out!

Tentatively titled “Raw in Belfast” we intend a fall release, with maybe a couple of new singles along the way. And for sure a bunch of shows. You know where you are, we might come by needing food.

I think the world needs our kind of angst right now, at least I do. Plus, i’d rather play with Cory and Allen than anyone.

Stay tuned. xoxox Brick.

In the meantime, reacquaint yourself with our LP ‘iloveyousomuch” below.
