Most players think they have a rating problem.

They don’t.

They have something they’re leaning on…
that’s doing more work than their game.

There’s a scene from Wolf that captures this perfectly.

Jack Nicholson’s character is sitting across from a woman.

No yelling.
No emotion.

He just tells her exactly what he sees.

You know, I think I understand what you’re like now.

You’re very beautiful…

and you think men are only interested in you because you’re beautiful.

But you want them to be interested in you because you’re you.

The problem is…

aside from all that beauty…

you’re not very interesting.

You’re rude.
You’re hostile.
You’re sullen.
You’re withdrawn.

I know you want someone to look past all that…
and see the real person underneath.

But the only reason anyone would bother to look past all that…

is because you’re beautiful.

Ironic, isn’t it?

In an odd way…

you’re your own problem.

Now take the same structure from this movie scene…

and change one thing.

Beauty becomes your DUPR.

You have digits.

Arranged neatly.
Clean. Repeatable. Easy to say out loud.

And you think people see you a certain way because of those digits.

You want them to believe there’s a real player underneath it.

The problem is…

aside from those numerals…

and you buying the reset online

your game isn’t very clear.

You hesitate.
You hold the ball a beat too long.
You wait for something to feel obvious.

Under pressure, you don’t simplify.

You don’t recognize the moment.

You don’t decide.

You react.

You hope.

And the only reason anyone believes there’s something there…

is because of that decimal point.

Move it one way or the other…

and everything changes.

Take the figures away…

and now we’re just watching your decisions.

In an odd way…

you’re your own problem.

What shows up in your game…
when the number doesn’t?

If this hit a little too close…

that’s the point.

Most players don’t need more tips.

They need to see the moment where their game disappears…
and know what to do next.

That’s what Narci is for.

You don’t lose pickleball matches because you lack information.

You lose them because you miss the moment.

Pop-up. Speed-up. Middle ball. Now what?

Describe the point.
