I usually do a post a day, where I talk about what happened the day before. But I missed a day. So this will be about yesterday and the day before. A blog first!
Well, I didn’t really get up to much, other than streaming. I think it crossed my mind a few times “What am I going to type about? I truly get up to fuck all”
Actually, I watched a bit of a film, called New Life.
I ended up switching it off halfway, due to an unexpected and unwelcome change of genres.
(Mild spoilers ahead)
It wouldn’t have been unexpected if I’d seen the trailer, because in the trailer you see three things: a civilian woman on the run; a team of professionals trying to track her down; and a horrific, contagious infection.
But I knew fuck all about the film. So to begin with, I thought it was about a woman fleeing an abusive partner, like Sleeping With The Enemy.
Then they introduced this tracking team, and it started to feel like The Bourne Identity.
It wasn’t until a third of the way through the film that they revealed that this was all about an infection, via a flashback where somebody is shown to have acquired strange spots.
I was like: “Oh. Right.”
And by halfway, it was hazmat suits and full on modern zombie stuff. As in the infected have weeping sores, cloudy eyes, and they scream as they slowly walk towards you with jerky movements. Complete with the standard jumpscare sounds.
I think that’s actually what made me switch off. The jumpscare sounds.
Up until that point, there had been no jumpscare sounds. There had been the occasional person appear at a door, giving the main character a fright, but with no horror sounds or music. It had that natural, realistic feeling to it, it was that kind of film. And then it wasn’t.
I just didn’t like that change. And so, off it went.
It’s funny, watching a trailer can ruin a film for me, but that was one case where it was the opposite.
Anyway, what else did I get up to?
Later that night, me and my son went out for a walk and a wee cuppa. We had a mini argument on the way there.
He was being a cheeky 15 year old, I was a grumpy 51 year old. Usual shite.
He said something mildly derogatory towards me. I stop walking and said that we’re not going if he’s going to be like that. He then accused me of “crashing out” over nothing. I agreed that it was nothing, in isolation, but I know from experience that if I don’t nip it in the bud right there and then, then it’s gonnae be arguments all the way there and all the way back, and I cannot be fucked with it.
And after a few minutes of intense negotiations and compromise, peace was reached, and we continued walking.
He got a tea and I had a decaf cappuccino. Plus we got chips.
When the guy brought the cappuccino over, he said “You don’t take sugar, am I right?”. I said “No thanks”, but I was so close to saying the classic “I’m sweet enough”.
When I got home, my family went to bed and I stayed up to play some Kingdom Come Deliverance II. I wanted to just skip through it as much as possible so I could have it ready to complete by the next day. Cos it was time for something new.
I woke up and read a suspicious looking comment on my Substack. It was suspiciously AI.
It was in reply to this post of me talking about streaming and the downsides of streaming games that can take weeks to complete, e.g. it can get a bit boring to watch or play.
Most people replied with a sentence or two, meaning “Do what you like” or “Maybe break it up with something different during the week”. But this reply was different, yet familiar. ChatGPT familiar.
Take a look at the screenshot of it below, cos they’ve actually since deleted it. Not only that, they’ve deleted their account.
I replied to it (my reply is still there, even though their post is deleted), and talked about it on my stream. And a few hours later, the post was gone, and so was their account. I don’t know what that means. Caught out? Or innocent and just not wanting the hassle?
It just looks very ChatGPT to me. As I said in my reply, one of the many suspicious elements is the ChatGPT style of “That’s not x, that’s y”.
Why would somebody do that? Just say “Play what you want, stop when you want”. Just type.
Anyway, I ended up completing Kingdom Come Deliverance II, and got what I’m assuming is the bad ending. And by bad ending, I mean best ending. Cos I love being an evil cunt in these games, I really do.
In short, the bad ending is that I massacred lots of people that I didn’t have to, I showed no regret, and the ghosts of my mum and dad are ashamed of me.
Lol.
