A Poem

I don’t pay for cable,

I got Netflix on my wall,

Hulu, Disney+, and Prime,

I’m scrollin’ through it all.

If I could find a show,

That I’ve not seen before,

I’d settle in, binge the night away,

Till my eyes can’t take no more.

What I really wanna know, my baby,

Is why there’s nothin’ new to stream.

It’s like I’ve seen it all before,

Oh, baby…

These algorithms kill my dreams.

Well, I don't like commercials,

So I paid to skip the ads.

But every platform’s got a fee,

Man, this life is gettin’ bad.

I’ve got Stranger Things,

And that Mandalorian,

But I’m still searchin’ for somethin' fresh,

Guess I’ll re-watch The Office again.

What I really wanna know, my baby,

Is why they took my favorite shows.

They’re locked on other apps,

Oh, baby…

This subscription game’s a joke.

Now, I ain’t got no HBO Max,

And Peacock’s got the stuff I lack.

I’m bouncin’ back and forth, where’s the deal?

Man, this cord-cutter life ain't real.

What I really wanna know, my baby,

Is why I’m payin’ more than before.

Guess I’ll pirate like the old days,

Oh, baby…

And let these streamin' wars implode.
