That electric feeling?

That electric feeling? The disorientation? The sense that you’ve stepped out of your old life but haven’t fully stepped into the new? That’s not anxiety. That’s what it feels like when your mind starts to change.

Romans 12:2 doesn’t say “be better.” It says be transformed by the renewing of your mind.

That’s a total renovation of your inner world.

When you stop agreeing with fear, shame, and trauma—when you start embracing truth—your brain begins to rewire. It doesn’t happen clean. It doesn’t happen all at once. Neurons grind against old pathways, identities that held you start to crack, and something new pushes through.

It’s more than thought. It’s blood and nerve and memory shifting inside you. It’s sacred because it hurts and heals at the same time.

You’re not losing your grip.

You’re losing what gripped you.

But renewing your mind is only part of the shift.

At some point, you have to become who God says you are.

You have to stop trying to “do better” and start standing in who you’ve already been called to be.

Wendell Smith, pastor of City Church in Seattle, once said, “If God could get you to be what you are called to be then you’d do what you’re called to do. If God can just get you to be an apple tree, you’d bear apples.”

In other words: the outcome isn’t forced. It’s the natural result of identity.

When you step fully into who you are, the evidence shows up on its own.

So if you’re hovering in-between—half-unmade, half-reborn—don’t run from it.

This is what transformation feels like.

It doesn’t whisper.

It shakes.

You’re not going back.
