📍Where to Start Your AVE Prep: Home Country vs. Australia 🇦🇺

Today is the first of June in Australia. And we officially start this month and winter with a post answering this question:

First, it is essential to recognise that circumstances are unique to each individual.

Reasons why you may want to study overseas and then come to Australia:

We all know that coming to Australia is not easy; we need a visa and money. Two things that are not easily obtained.

What I have observed in our brainy bilby community is that overseas veterinarians may think it will be easier to obtain limited registration if they pass the AVE exam and then come to Australia to work as a veterinarian while studying for the practical exam.

Fact

It is essential to note that finding a job under limited registration while you are overseas is not easy. It is not even easy to find a job under limited registration in Australia.

Therefore, please do not make this decision based solely on this fact.

Why come to Australia and then study for the AVE exam

if doable? This is my preferred choice. Please understand that it will be a tough journey. You will have to study full-time to maintain your visa ( if on a student visa) and work part-time. And in your free time, you will have to study for the AVE.

if coming on a working holiday visa, you can work full time, but then you have to find spare time to study.

Studying as an adult, with numerous commitments, and adapting to a new culture is a massive challenge. What I see in our brainy Bilby students is that the majority start studying in a “rush”.

Six months before IF MUCH. And the reason for this is because, if you don’t have the urgency, that ticking clock that is telling you: you have enrolled and paid for the exam!!! Makes people procrastinate.

Please note that at Brainy Bilby, we have:

• Six-month AVE distance mentoring course

• Six-month AVE LIVE mentoring course

Whilst the course is only 6 months, the study load is huge!! I do encourage you to study for at least 10 months for the AVE exam.
