📊 What’s the Pass Mark for the AVE MCQ Exam? Here’s What You Need to Know

Today, we are going to address this question asked by an overseas veterinarian:

Deepthi Palisetty: What is the total mark and qualifying mark for AVE exam?

The final score for the Preliminary (MCQ) Examination is the combined score of Paper 1 and Paper 2.

The AVE Preliminary (MCQ) Exam uses Computerised Adaptive Testing (CAT). This means the computer adapts the test in real-time based on how you're performing:

• Every time you answer a question, the system updates your ability estimate.

• If you answer correctly, the next question gets harder. If you get it wrong, the next one gets easier.

• Each question has a difficulty score based on the Rasch model, a statistical method that helps compare your performance across different levels of difficulty.

• Your final score is based on the difficulty of the questions you got right, not just how many.

✅ You’ll get two papers (Paper 1, Paper 2), and everyone gets the same number of questions per section to keep it fair.

🎯 To pass, you need a cut-score of 500, which represents the minimum ability level required.

Finally, remember the results of the Preliminary (MCQ) Examination are sent in writing by email within six weeks. No results are given by telephone.
