Update on The Declaration of Independence

Dear Substack Reader, Happy Mother's Day! It’s a truly gorgeous day here in Michigan, and we treated my wife, Dedra, to a feast after Mass this morning. I hope the same for each of you.

Additionally, I’m so incredibly proud of child no. 3, Maria Grace. She graduated with high honors from Hillsdale College yesterday. I’ve always known she was incredibly smart, but I recently got to see her defend her senior honors thesis on Willa Cather, and she was simply brilliant. I was one truly proud papa.

Ok, onto the heart of this relatively short post.

First, I want happily to note that my Declaration of Independence: A Radical Experiment in Liberty has been selling really well, and the entire week since its release, it has been the No. 1 new release in Modern Western Philosophy at Amazon. I’m not sure how Amazon determines such things, but I’ll take it!

Second, I’ve had a couple of wonderful radio interviews. Last week, I talked with Tim Glemkowski at Relevant Radio. It was excellent.

Then, this weekend, I got to talk for an hour with my old friend, ally, and hero, Deal Hudson. Deal really mentored me when I first started writing professionally. He was editor of one of the finest magazines in America, Crisis, and I absolutely loved writing for him. So, it was truly meaningful to catch up with him. Here’s that one. Again, Deal is just a great, great guy.

Finally, I just want to direct everyone to my most recent piece at The Imaginative Conservative. It’s a bit controversial as I ask whether or not we Americans should be in NATO. Whatever its successes—and there are many—I’m not really sure we have the constitutional authority to align with other countries in such a fashion. Here’s the link.
