Brad Sherman · Sightlines

If you're interested in vintage furniture, collectible design objects, art, and the pieces that make an interior feel personal, this series is for you.

As a designer, one of the questions I get asked most often is where I find the vintage furniture, objects, and art that end up inspiring our projects. The answer is usually a mix of flea markets, galleries, estate sales, and increasingly, LiveAuctioneers. I spend a surprising amount of time scrolling auctions, looking for pieces with character, unusual forms, or just something that catches my eye.

In my opinion, the best interiors are rarely built from products sourced all at once. They are layered over time through a collection of pieces that have history, personality, and a point of view. That why each week, I pull together a selection of pieces currently on my watchlist. Some are under-the-radar finds or iconic investment worthy pieces, while others are just beautifully designed objects I wish I had room for, and all are available to bid on right now…

This week I’m sourcing lamps! This chrome-plated and frosted glass After Donald Deskey Table Lamp.

A pair of COMTE ‘Croisillon’ table lamps designed by Jean-Michel Frank in Argentina circa 1935.

An Objet Insolite bronze table lamp, made in France.
