Photos from the first week of 2026, just outside Fort William and further along the West Highland Line, as far as Mallaig. We were both ill with unforgiving colds but decided we’d rather be snivelling with fresh air and beautiful views than in our tiny London flat. We took the sleeper train up from London: while we were there, it snowed so much that the train home got cancelled. I love this part of Scotland: the drama of the mountains; the huge sky; the sweeping lochs and the way they change the light.
This is the fifth instalment of my monthly photo post series. You can see the first four instalments here: saxony on film and vestland on film and saxony on film (winter edition) and the big apple on film (2018). These posts are light on text and heavy on photos.
Shot on a canon ae-1, using fujifilm 200.
