I recently read Theo of Golden by Allen Levi, which is one of the big books of the moment. While I liked it and thought it was sweet and nice, I also found it repetitive in some ways. It’s a good read but I wasn’t as blown away like others were. Have you read it yet? For more of my thoughts, here’s my review and for book clubs, here’s my book club questions.
I also read Mad Mabel by Sally Hepworth, which publishes on April 21st in the U.S. I selected it as a must-read book club pick for 2026 and it very much deserves a place on this list! It’s quite fascinating and original.
An 81-year-old woman named Elise, who was convicted of murder as a child, is living quietly in a typical suburban neighborhood. But when her neighbor is found dead, fingers point to Elise. It will keep you guessing but it’s also very much a character study.

Big Little Lies Book Gets a Sequel
Did you see the news that Liane Moriarty wrote a sequel to Big Little Lies? I read the book way before I saw the show and I liked both equally. I enjoy all of Liane’s books and this is still her top book for me.
I’m very curious what will be in store in Big Little Truth! The children are now teenagers. While much has changed with their parents, secrets still remain and may soon come to light.
Now the TV series did make story changes, especially in season two. However, this book is a direct sequel to the book itself. They also are planning to make a season three of the show, which I’m sure will draw from this book.

My next two reads are both on my big book club list!
I received an early copy of Land by Maggie O’Farrell. I’m so looking forward to this story. Land is a historical novel set in Ireland in the years before and after the Great Hunger. It’s an ambitious novel about buried treasure, ghosts, and survival.
I also plan to read Matt Haig’s The Midnight Train, which is part of The Midnight Library world. The story asks you to consider, when your life flashes before your eyes, where would you stop? A magical time-traveling love story that will no doubt pull at your heartstrings.
