While we’re already well into wedding season, it’s safe to say that dressing for summer weddings can be particularly annoying. It’s hot, it’s usually humid, and people love to get married in Europe where they absolutely do not love AC (love). TO EACH THEIR OWN or whatever!!!

With that said, I wanted to round-up some wedding guest dresses I not only think are seasonly safe, but are also GORGEOUS, knockout options ranging in price. You can expect VERY PRETTY, summer black tie appropriate (even going into fall), and LONG (we’ll get into this in a sec.)

It will probably come as ZERO SHOCK to you that I happen to have VERY strong opinions on what people should wear to weddings… specifically when they’re guests. Black tie weddings obviously call for long dresses. No VISIBLE upper thigh, pls! Even if it’s cocktail attire… you’re not 16 and going to homecoming.

Always, always, always pls consider location. Location is honestly top two variables that help me determine the vibe of my look. Like black is always a safe option, but if your friend is getting married in Italy, I want to see you in bright colors!! THINK bright greens, yellows, and corals.

And on that note, let’s dive deep into color. Put it this way, you CANNOT be in a color that makes anybody do a double take (in a BAD way.) There are certain tones and textures (HI SATIN) that when the light reflects off of them, they borderline look white. Colors to be careful with: silver, peach, champagne, cream, and off-white (duh). If you’re in a color (or even a silhouette) that makes someone go, “the bride must’ve approved that,” it’s a HARD pass.

Let’s also unpack fabric here… there’s no need to be wearing a thick wool dress in July. Summer is for fun, light fabrics. Which, side note, often call for VERY GOOD shapewear. This pair from Spanx and this pair from Skims do wonders in smoothing everything out.

Thought I would throw this out there but one thing I never consider is comfort. Last year, I wore a lingerie set for my birthday that was fully two sizes too small. You just need to step up to bat and commit. I believe in US to make that happen.

LETS DIVE IN.

You’re gonna look AMAZING!!!

Byeeeee,

Morgan

OKAY TEAM! It’s time to talk capsule wardrobes. If you were to ask me, curating a capsule wardrobe is probably top 2 best ways to either start or revive your fashion journey. I’m in the midst of this myself, which is what inspired me to write about this.
