4,500 requests to perform at quinceañeras

Early on in this campaign, my Republican opponent Monica De La Cruz took a crack at me. She said I only belong “playing at quinceañeras.” Maybe you remember that?

A cheap punchline.

But to me, celebrating and delivering for your community is why I’m running for office in the first place.

So, I asked on social media: “who wants me to show up?”

4,500 responses later, and here I am, playing as many as 7 quinceañeras in one day.

The whole country has woken up to what we’re building in Texas’ 15th Congressional District. It even landed us on the front page of The Wall Street Journal a few months back:

I like to say that good campaigns win elections, but the best campaigns become movements.

I’m no career politician. I walked away from a 30-year Tejano music career because I got tired of watching my community get talked down to.
