When it comes to learning and perfecting a certain skill set, the power of focus and repetition cannot be underestimated.
One of my all-time favorite sayings — from one of the world’s all-time greatest practitioners — is the following…
Key Point: “I fear not the person who has practiced 10,000 kicks once, but I fear the person who has practiced one kick 10,000 times.” —Bruce Lee, legendary martial artist, actor, philosopher
Indeed, the man or woman who has put that kind of *concentrated and focused* work, effort, and dedication into their craft is potentially lethal.
Or...in the sales context, they become immensely *valuable* to their customers, their employer, their colleagues, their team members, etc.
Sometimes, though, when one has acquired excellence via such dedication, they suddenly stop “practicing that kick” and get just a little bit stale.
Has this ever happened to you? It certainly has to me.
Today’s Exercise: Think of one area of your business that you have literally (or even just figuratively) practiced 10,000 times and become terrific at…but have perhaps stopped doing or at least let slip. Work on rededicating yourself to this area in order to make yourself even more valuable to those you serve.
Have one in mind?
I’ve got mine.
Now pardon me while I head off to my “virtual dojo.” :-)
