Early morning start on this second consecutive day requiring travel…. on the achy side, but early morning coffee soothed the discomfort… followed coffee with two Tylenol taking off the edge… listening to some soft jazz as the daylight appears,,,,, my meditative mind clears the discomfort as my forced smile reminds me to be grateful that I am capable of this journey…. coffee, meditation, Tylenol, gratitude …. Life is Good.
I reflect on yesterday’s warm return to the late 60’s…. was pick up at my home by one grammar school buddy, driven to another high school buddy’s home, where we met a third high school alumni, who flew in from Washington D.C. in the early hours…. drove to south Jersey to meet another high school friend at the residency of our HS Vice Principal from the late 60’s…. I reflect on the magic of how special this teacher was for five old guys being served non-alcoholic beer and pizza, under a tree in his backyard…. reminiscing about how he and the school he helped lead, his classes, and his disciplines shaped our lives for the better …. all of us have so much gratitude for our learning experience from 52-56 years ago (1966-70) …. the modesty of the Vice Principal’s words “You guys give me too much credit, I really did very little” …. well after a special ice cream treat, I returned to my home feeling like Jimmy Stewart in “It’s a Wonderful Life” …. Namaste my friends, may you learn from your teachers of today and have gratitude for the influences of your past.
