March Movies Watched, Hangwater Update, and Avengers Comics

My days are packed. To combat my schedule I reclaim my personal free time at night.

This has led to me staying up way to late my entire life. I’m a night owl and love the quiet evening time. But it hurts my next day. It leaves me feeling more drained and less productive.

• Reading - Relaxant that winds me down.

• Stretching - Stimulant that keeps my blood flowing and body engaged

My new habit: read comics and fiction while stretching in my room. I’m really working on these tight hip-flexors. After about 30 minutes of stretching I lay down in bed and it’ll be another 30 minutes before my body is ready for lights out.

I took a Magnesium Glycinate pill the other night and was totally knocked out.

Movies Watched in March

I saw a good amount of films last month. What were your favs?

• Scream 7 - ★★
  A mess that takes the franchise back to legacy characters and trauma. Very unsatisfying Ghostface reveal.

• Hoppers - ★★★★★
  The plot is a lot for kids, but it is absolutely hilarious.

• My Neighbors the Yamadas - ★★★
  Nice slice-of-life Ghibli with experimental animation.

• The Secret Agent - ★★★★
  Slow, long, but great filmmaking. My lack of knowledge of Brazilian history and politics made this very opaque for me.

• Kiki’s Delivery Service - ★★★★
  Coming-of-age about girlhood depression makes me feel sad. Stunning in IMAX.

• Summer 2000: The X-Cetra Story - ★★★★★
  Brilliant documentary about female friendship.

• Weapons - ★★★★
  A rewatch is very rewarding now that I know what’s going on. The perspective and construction of this movie is impressive.

• Project Hail Mary - ★★½
  This glib book makes a glib movie. It’s too jokey. The effects and Rocky’s charm are undeniable though.

• Eternity - ★★
  This should be an Apple TV+ show for TV lovers.

This is galaxy-brain cosmic storytelling. It’s a wild read that is a bit unconventional for a regular Avengers story but is a taste of what wild cosmic comics can be.

What to [watch] this weekend: The Super Mario Galaxy Movie

Consider my family stoked for this movie. My girls don’t really even know who Rosalina is, but they do know she is completely badass. I love what Nintendo is doing with this movie franchise. And it’s only 1h38min which is the perfect length for a kids movie. Doesn’t overstay its welcome.
