I binged the entirety of two Hulu series last week: The Bear’s final season and Not Suitable for Work. The Bear farewell was perfect, no notes, one of the best series ever. As for Not Suitable for Work … what was that? A wobbly Mindy Kaling mashup of Friends, Happy Endings, Sex and the City, and a soundtrack assembled by a community college radio DJ in 1996? But, I did learn one valuable lesson from it: You’ll drag me back to a full-time workplace office by my cold, dead feet.

Adventure Time: Side Quests (Hulu, Disney+) New animated series: Finn (Voiced by Sasha Knight) and his doggo BFF Jake (John DiMaggio) embark on new adventures in the Land of Ooo, including (says Hulu), “partying with cloud people and punching evil in the butt.” Stream It This Week approves this message. Bang My Box: The Robin Byrd Story (HBO, HBO Max) Documentary: A look at the life and wild times of New York City public access cable TV host Robin Byrd, a sex-positive pioneer and proto-influencer whose 1977–1998 show became a lightning rod for the AIDS epidemic, safe sex, and free speech advocacy. The weekly Robin Byrd Show welcomed exotic dancers and adult film stars to a low-budget TV party that produced over 600 episodes, and now, retired at 70, Byrd is telling all. Presidential 1776 Award (CBS, Paramount+) Academic special: High school civics students compete for $250,000 in scholarships by testing their knowledge of the Constitution, America’s founding principles, and other topics the current President definitely knows nothing about. Winners may or may not be eligible to participate in the White House’s Hunger, er, Patriot Games in August.

Elle (Prime Video) New series: A teenage Elle Woods (Lexi Minetree) navigates ’90s high school in this prequel series to Reese Witherspoon’s 2001 comedy Legally Blonde. If you’re asking, “Wouldn’t that just be Election?”, you’re already thinking too hard. Elle also stars June Diane Raphael, Tom Everett Scott, Chandler Kinney, and the late James Van Der Beek in what he likely didn’t envision as his final TV role. Elle trailer

Enola Holmes 3 (Netflix) Movie premiere: Enola (Millie Bobby Brown) travels to Malta to get married, but the nuptials go awry when her brother Sherlock (Henry Cavill) is kidnapped. X-Men ’97 (Disney+) Season 2 premiere: In the second season of animated throwback series X-Men ’97, the mutant superheroes fight to return home after they’ve been cast to various eras of the past—time travel in a retro TV show, so meta. Ready or Not 2: Here I Come (Hulu) Movie streaming premiere: The sequel to 2019’s Ready or Not throws Grace (Samara Weaving) right back into the ultraviolent hunting game, this time with her younger sister Faith (Kathryn Newton). Ready or Not 2: Here I Come was undercut at the box office when it opened against Project Hail Mary in March, probably because that Ryan Gosling snoozefest was a “feel-good” movie. Silo (Apple TV) Season 3 premiere: Post-apocalyptic sci-fi drama Silo enters its penultimate season with engineer Juliette (Rebecca Ferguson) looking deeper for answers to the mysteries of her 144-level underground silo home, and us getting a look at the Before Times of the pre-apocalypse. The series I dismissed as Vertical Snowpiercer when it debuted in 2023 has become a compelling conspiracy thriller with a fourth-season endgame in sight, but will Silo stick the landing? I’m oddly more confident in a satisfying finale for Silo than in our own geopolitical drama unfolding IRL right now. Silo S3 trailer

The Great American Block Party 250 (CBS, Paramount+) Holiday special: From the compromised corporate media behemoth that brought you UFC at the White House, it’s The Great American Block Party 250, hosted by the nation’s least-trusted “newsman,” Tony Dokoupil. Musical guests include Jon Batiste, Zac Brown Band, Goo Goo Dolls, and The War & Treaty, and CBS News chief Bari Weiss was reportedly this close to booking Sublime, according to completely unverified sources.

Macy’s 4th of July Fireworks 2026 (NBC, Peacock) Holiday special: Along with the ‘splodey stuff, brace yourself for performances from Noah Kahan, Post Malone, Salt-N-Pepa, Bebe Rexha, Shaboozey, and NBC’s own contractually-obligated Blake Shelton. Fittingly, Macy’s 4th of July Fireworks will be hosted by President Dwayne Elizondo Mountain Dew Herbert Comacho (a.k.a. Idiocracy star Terry Crews).

Featured shows for the 14th annual SharkFest include Hammerhead Sharks Up Close, World’s Biggest Mako, Attack of the Samurai Sharks, Shark vs. Giant Croc, Shark Island Showdown, Sharks: Reef Rivals, and Great White Gauntlet.
